Description

On a late summer day more than two hundred years ago, a solitary man rows to the quiet Vorre shore, binds his broad boat and begins a life of seclusion aboard it. For five years he lives almost entirely within the cramped vessel, emerging only at night to purchase food from a nearby village, his presence a whispered rumor among the locals. When the sixth spring arrives he finally steps onto the shore for good, sells the boat, and sets out to build a farmhouse and clear the surrounding land.

The new homestead grows into a modest estate, and the once‑reclusive Peter Wilde gradually earns the trust of the community through steady labor and quiet generosity. Stories of his perseverance spread, and his descendants expand the farm into a thriving family enterprise rooted in the rugged forest and the steep Bö plateau that frame the valley. Listeners are invited to follow Wilde’s humble transformation from isolated boat‑dweller to respected farmer, feeling the texture of the Norwegian landscape and the slow, steady rhythm of a life reshaped by determination.

Thomas Peter Krag

1868–1913

A Norwegian novelist, playwright, and short-story writer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, he was known for moody, imaginative fiction shaped by nature, mystery, and restless inner lives. Though less widely read now, he was once popular enough that several of his books became bestsellers in Denmark.
