Description

A turbulent Italy braces for the clash of ancient powers as a small Roman villa becomes the unlikely stage for looming war. Valerius, a seasoned veteran, shares a wary dinner with his sister Valeria and the thoughtful Julius, trying to balance personal loyalty with the darkening tide of Gothic ambition. When a battered Goth scout bursts in with grim news of a mysterious death and a mysterious, unseen force gathering on the road, the uneasy peace shatters, and the trio must decide whether to flee, defend a narrow pass, or confront an enemy they barely understand.

The narrative weaves vivid descriptions of clashing cultures—Roman resolve, Gothic ferocity, and the whispered presence of the legendary Belisarius—while the characters wrestle with fear, honor, and the weight of destiny. Listeners are drawn into a world where every footstep on the ancient roads could tip the balance between survival and ruin, setting the stage for a dramatic struggle that will test courage as fiercely as fate itself.
