Description

In the shadow of a once‑grand London mansion turned girls’ school, the rhythm of study and the clang of piano keys fill the air as Easter approaches. Miss Euphemia Clarkson, the youngest of the three sisters who run the establishment, teaches a lively geography class of spirited girls whose minds drift between maps and the tiny world outside the window. Among them, an Irish girl named Norah O’Brien becomes the focus when her imagination carries her far beyond the classroom, hinting at a curiosity that will soon reach beyond the school’s walls.

The novel opens with the atmosphere of Treherne House, juxtaposing its faded aristocratic past with the vibrant energy of its pupils. Through charming, detailed scenes of lessons, friendships, and the everyday pressures of impending exams, the story captures the texture of late‑Victorian education for young ladies. As the Easter break looms, the narrative invites listeners to wonder what possibilities lie in the spare moments when the girls step out into spring London, and how a single day might change the course of a thoughtful girl’s life.
