Description

A powerful political mastermind gathers his inner circle—Forsythe, Barney Fogarty, and Jim Neenan—for a night at a secluded roadhouse, hoping to seal a delicate arrangement away from prying eyes and nosy reporters. The dinner is meant to be a quiet celebration, a chance for the boss to signal his control over the state’s machinery and to keep a potential rival, Martin Hammond, in check. Over drinks and low‑key conversation, the men think they’ve outmaneuvered every possible threat.

Hours later, the evening unravels when a pair of morning newspapers headline a shocking speech that never happened, claiming Hammond announced a bid for governorship and blasted the boss’s policies. The same story reverberates through the radio, where listeners swear they heard the exact words being delivered on the very night of the dinner. As the quartet confronts the bewildering evidence, the line between rumor and reality blurs, plunging them into a frantic scramble to control the narrative before the story explodes across the state.
