About the author

Born Kustaa Felix Wilkuna in Nivala on May 4, 1879, he became known as Kyösti Wilkuna and worked as a writer and editor in Finland. He is remembered not only for literature but also for journalism and public activity during a turbulent period in Finnish history.

Wilkuna wrote novels, short stories, and historical works. His books often drew on Finnish history and national life, and titles such as Tapani Löfvingin seikkailut isonvihan aikana and Kahdeksan kuukautta Shpalernajassa helped establish him as a vivid storyteller with a strong sense of drama and the past.

His life also included intense political involvement: biographical sources describe him as active in the White movement, the Civil Guard, and related nationalist causes around the time of Finnish independence. He died in Lapua on December 12, 1922, at just 43, leaving behind a body of work tied closely to the passions and conflicts of early 20th-century Finland.
