Born in Gothenburg on September 22, 1875, Carl Gustaf Grimberg was a Swedish historian, teacher, and writer. He earned his doctorate in 1903, taught history for a time, and later devoted much of his energy to publishing and historical writing.
He is especially remembered for Svenska folkets underbara öden, a major multi-volume history of Sweden published from 1913 to 1924. He also began the large world history series Världshistoria in 1926, a project that remained unfinished when he died.
Grimberg died in Djursholm on June 11, 1941. He is often remembered as a popularizer of history: someone who made big historical stories accessible and engaging for general readers, not just specialists.
