Description

A fleeting summer day brings a hundred city children to the quiet fields of Wood Cottage, where they revel in hymn‑filled games, fresh milk, and the simple comfort of a meadow picnic. As the sun dips and an ominous storm rolls in, the Grays—caretakers of the modest farm—watch over their own infant, Kit, whose fragile past is hinted at in whispered prayers and a longing for safety.

Within the cottage’s walls, the children’s laughter fades into the rumble of thunder, and a deeper narrative begins to unfold: a little girl, taken from neglectful hands in London, has found a fragile refuge with a kind-hearted cousin who barely scrapes a living. As the rain begins, listeners are invited to feel the tension between hope and hardship, and to wonder how the storm will shape the fragile bonds forming at Wood Cottage.
