Description

In a secluded Irish glen where a mountain stream tumbles over a sheer precipice, an American visitor catches sight of a slender, almost ethereal girl perched on a natural bridge. Winifred, with her clear brown eyes and a faint Dublin lilt, claims to be an orphan of a centuries‑old castle far beyond the well‑trod paths of Powerscourt. Their conversation drifts from daring feats on the bridge to the mysterious “Phoul‑a‑Phooka,” hinting at hidden realms and an ancient lineage that the locals barely whisper about.

A tentative friendship blooms as the narrator promises to accompany Winifred to the hidden fortress perched high in the hills. She speaks of a grandmother who guards secrets, of companions best left unnamed, and of a promise that their meeting will soon turn into a proper adventure. Listeners are invited to follow their first steps into an Ireland that feels both familiar and enchanted, where every stone may hold a story and every laugh hints at deeper mysteries.
