WALLADMOR.
CHAPTER X.
CHAPTER XI.
In the opening of this sweeping historical tale, a weary traveler named Bertram pauses to collect his thoughts after a recent clash with revenue officers. A hastily scribbled note slipped into his pocket points him toward the ruined Abbey of Griffith ap Gauvon, promising a secret meeting with an old friend. Intrigued and uncertain, he sets out across a bright, crisp day, the landscape already hinting at the mysteries that lie ahead.
The road leads him into a remote valley where a modest ale‑house offers shelter and a curious local’s warning about the ancient gallows of Pont‑ar‑Diawl, said to have once hung Welsh harpers under Edward I. The innkeeper’s cryptic remarks about lone travelers and unseen “odd sort of folks” from the sea create an uneasy ambience, while the emerald‑tinged horizon suggests a change in weather. As Bertram accepts directions and continues toward the abbey, the listener is drawn into a world of forgotten ruins, lingering folklore, and the promise of hidden alliances.
