On the emerald world of Venus, a towering statue watches over the solitary colony of New Plymouth, commemorating the planet’s first native child, a twelve‑year‑old named Johnny. He shares his days with Baba, a tiny jewel‑blue bear who can turn pages, climb walls, and keep his most dangerous secrets safe. When the annual Earth rocket arrives, Johnny knows that the day will force him to choose between a careless adventure and protecting the colony.
In a cramped, windowless school, Johnny and Baba plot a daring escape to the armor room, hoping a misbehavior punishment will keep them away from the launch field. Their quick thinking and the bear’s uncanny abilities launch them into a pulse‑pounding race through the colony’s winding corridors and jungle‑like trees. As they dash through the green‑light haze, the stakes of Johnny’s hidden secrets begin to surface, hinting at the courage that will later earn him a place among Venus’s legends.
