Description

A team of deep‑earth explorers uncovers a bizarre, screw‑shaped organism that seems engineered to bite into rock and climb toward whatever lies above. When the specimen lands on a laboratory bench, its three needle‑sharp jaws lock onto any surface, drilling upward with relentless force. The scientist who captures it, Art Douglas, is both fascinated and uneasy, realizing that this alien “vandal” could be far more dangerous than anyone imagined.

As Art wrestles with the creature’s uncanny strength, he finds an unexpected distraction in Elene Moor, the institute’s secretary and an old college acquaintance. Their tentative conversation offers a brief respite from the mounting pressure at the Interplanetary Research Institute, a facility already teetering on the brink of collapse. Together they begin to contemplate what the discovery might mean for humanity’s fragile foothold on Earth—and whether the void beyond has already begun to strike back.
