Description

A stormy May morning in 1572 finds the fishermen of Westport huddled in their tavern, trading gossip about Sir Francis Drake’s looming expedition. The locals—hard‑knocked sailors, grizzled veterans and wide‑eyed boys—recount the daring raids on the Spanish Main, the brutal fate that awaits captured Spaniards, and the promise of gold that would fill a man’s pockets. Their conversations crackle with a mix of patriotic fervor and restless longing for the open sea, while the village watches the convoy of ships slip past the cliffs, bound for distant waters.

When a sudden wreck shatters the Devon coast, a handful of would‑be adventurers are thrust from quiet harbour life into a chaotic scramble for survival. Amid broken timber and swirling surf, they must decide whether to cling to familiar shores or chase the siren call of Drake’s flag across the Atlantic. The opening thrusts listeners into a world of salt‑stung bravery, camaraderie, and the uneasy promise of danger that awaits beyond the horizon.
