Description

In a mist‑laden courtyard of a medieval stronghold, the air thrums with the solemn clang of trumpets and the echo of prayers. The seasoned herald Guidello unfurls a parchment, calling the assembled knights to heed the Easter proclamation of their lord, Count Adalberto. As the venerable arias of the Ave Maria rise, the assembled warriors—each bearing a distinct token of honor—prepare to set out on a mission that promises both prestige and peril.

The narrative follows two enigmatic figures moving with cautious stealth beneath the watchful gaze of their lord. One hides a crucial scroll beneath his hood, while the other guards a brass trumpet, wary that its sound might betray their purpose. Their whispered steps through the twilight‑shrouded streets hint at hidden loyalties and looming danger, drawing listeners into a world of chivalry, intrigue, and the fragile balance between duty and doubt.

About the author

Ambrogio Bazzero

Ambrogio Bazzero

1851–1882

A vivid voice from Milan’s Scapigliatura movement, this Italian writer, poet, and dramatist packed intense feeling and restless imagination into a life that ended far too early. His work is often remembered for its inward, emotional tone and for the sense of modern unease running through it.
