A bruised eleven‑year‑old boy named Tim slips away from the farm where his cruel uncle, Captain Babbige, keeps him on a tight leash. With only a battered coat, a few dollars, and his oddly‑shaped dog Tip for company, he steps into a dusty country store where a kind clerk offers a listening ear and a small act of mercy. The exchange plants the first spark of hope, but the shadow of Babbige’s bounty on the newspaper still looms, reminding Tim that a careless step could bring him back into danger.
Together, Tim and Tip set off along a winding road that leads into a dense wood, each mile a mix of exhaustion and quiet resolve. As they pause on a rock, the boy whispers apologies to his loyal companion, vowing to protect the creature that has become his only family. Their journey promises encounters with strangers who may help or hinder, and a series of small, courageous choices that could shape a life far beyond the harsh home they fled.
