THE VOICE IN THE FOG
A thick, yellow London fog rolls through the streets like a living thing, turning lamps into halos and cobblestones into a bewildering maze. In the midst of this murky night, a poised woman named Kitty worries about her safety while her husband, Jim, hovers between concern and flirtation. Their conversation crackles with a mix of affection and hidden tension, hinting at a relationship that blurs the line between marriage and something more secretive. As the light in their carriage sputters out, a strange, lingering voice seems to echo from the mist, stirring a sense of unease that spreads beyond the couple.
Outside, the city teeters between chaos and choreography: suffragettes, opera arcs, and the relentless clatter of cabs all disappear into the fog’s grasp. The protagonist steps into the gloom, his eyes hunting for familiar numbers on the curb while phantom shapes flit in and out of view. The atmosphere feels both theatrical and ominous, promising a night where every footstep could uncover a hidden danger or a whispered clue.
