Description

Three inseparable companions—two boys and a loyal dog—have survived a world that has taken everything from them. Petrik, orphaned by fever, and Ondrejko, whose parents vanished when he was a toddler, now live under the watchful eye of the formidable shepherd Bacha on a remote mountain estate. In the modest hut beside the sheepfolds they share meals of black bread and whey, sleep on hay, and find solace in each other's company while the towering peaks watch over them.

Their days are filled with the rhythm of shepherding: gathering flocks, braving cold streams, and listening to Bacha's quiet lessons about strength and obedience. Fido, the shaggy dog who lost his mother to a wild boar, guards the ladder to the loft and offers a steady, comforting presence. As winter approaches, the trio must confront the harshness of the mountain life, testing the depth of their friendship and the resolve they have forged together.
