Description

Little Lucie lives on a quiet farm and is constantly misplacing her pocket‑handkerchiefs. One tearful afternoon she asks the farmyard animals for help and spots a strange, white shimmer on the hillside. Determined, she climbs the steep slope, following tiny footprints and a glittering trail until she reaches a hidden spring and an unexpected doorway set into the hill itself.

Beyond the door she finds a miniature kitchen, its low ceiling and pint‑sized pots hinting at a world all its own. There, standing at a little iron, is Mrs. Tiggy‑Winkle, a stout, short‑statured figure in a large apron and striped petticoat, her black nose twitching as she greets the curious girl. Lucie asks if she’s seen her missing handkerchiefs, and Mrs. Tiggy‑Winkle’s twinkling eyes promise a gentle revelation.
