Description

High on Blue Mountain, a stone cave houses a bear family—father, mother, spirited little Silkie, and their mischievous son, Cuffy. Though kind‑hearted, Cuffy often loses his temper, striking his sister and earning a nickname that follows him like a shadow. His parents hope each winter’s long sleep will soften his habit, but the arrival of spring awakens both his curiosity and his old impulses.

When the sun finally warms the mountain, Mr. Bear stirs and calls the cubs to rise, urging them to enjoy the fresh air. Ignoring his sister’s warning, Cuffy darts toward the pine woods, climbing a towering tree and discovering a shy porcupine perched among the branches. The encounter sparks a gentle lesson about patience and restraint, hinting that the young bear’s journey may teach him to curb the very habit that has troubled his family.
