Description

In the summer of 1777 a young Continental soldier is posted to a lonely hollow overlooking the Van Auken farm, the very spot where General Gates believes the fate of the thirteen colonies hangs in the balance. Tasked with keeping the hill and the house secure, he wrestles with the weight of responsibility while the quiet countryside masks the approach of British forces. When he climbs to the roof he meets Kate Van Auken, a sharp‑tongued daughter of a staunch Tory family, and their terse greeting hints at a rivalry that may turn into something deeper.

Their uneasy cooperation forces both to question loyalties, as rumors of spies and night‑time messengers stir the hill’s shadows. Against the backdrop of Burgoyne’s looming surrender, the soldier’s sense of duty clashes with a growing attraction, creating a tense blend of romance and war. Listeners will be drawn into the rustle of leaves, the crack of distant gunfire, and the promise of a sunrise that could change more than just the battlefield.
