Description

A remote Mexican hacienda becomes the focus of a desperate night‑long battle when a fierce band of raiders descends upon it. Don Christobal Canelo, a young but resolute landowner, rallies the frightened workers, using skillful marksmanship and steady commands to hold the crumbling doors against a tide of violence. At his side is his unflinching wife, whose calm determination fuels the defenders even as the walls buckle under relentless blows.

The siege erupts with a chaotic mix of musket fire, shouted commands, and the clang of axes against timber, turning the estate’s courtyard into a smoky arena. Characters on both sides reveal stark contrasts of fear and courage, while the claustrophobic interior of the hacienda becomes a crucible for loyalty and survival. Listeners are drawn into the raw urgency of the moment, feeling every heartbeat of a community fighting for its very existence.

About the author

Jos. E. (Joseph Edward) Badger

Jos. E. (Joseph Edward) Badger

1848–1909

A prolific American storyteller of frontier and adventure fiction, he filled dime novels and serials with scouts, outlaws, lost cities, and fast-moving action. His books capture the punchy, cliffhanger-driven style that made popular fiction so widely read in the late nineteenth century.
