Description

Two former naval officers, Jack Villiers and Bobby Beverley, find themselves adrift in post‑war England, their sea‑worn habits clashing with a world that expects them to settle into ordinary jobs. Fresh from the decks of the Hermione, they share a restless camaraderie, trading jokes about “the forelock of an anchor” while confronting the bleak prospect of civilian life and dwindling prospects.

When a sunken vessel, the Fusi Yama, lies waiting beneath the harbor’s waters, the pair glimpse a chance to reclaim purpose and earn a modest fortune. Their plan to mount a daring salvage operation pulls them back into the rhythm of the sea, testing old skills, old loyalties, and the thin line between adventure and desperation. As they gather a motley crew and chart a course through bureaucratic red tape, the story captures the gritty optimism of men trying to rebuild their lives amid the lingering echoes of war.
