Description

A bright‑eyed New York teen named Tom is hooked on the new wonder of radio, and his parents happily encourage his curiosity. After borrowing a modest crystal set, he spends every spare moment poring over magazines, swapping parts with friends, and cobbling together gadgets in his makeshift workshop. The excitement builds as he dreams of moving beyond the clunky headphones that limit his listening to a single ear.

When Tom finally unveils a tangle of wires, tubes and homemade circuitry, the room fills with music that surprises his skeptical father. The impromptu invention demonstrates how a determined youngster can turn a simple hobby into a working vacuum‑tube receiver, promising louder, clearer broadcasts for the whole family. As he prepares to refine his creation into a proper set, Tom’s inventive spirit hints at even bigger technical adventures on the horizon.
