Jon Carver's routine flight across the stars is shattered when a sharp hiss signals a hull breach on their family spaceboat. He scrambles to seal a half‑inch hole with a handkerchief, a metal patch and a makeshift torch, buying the crew precious minutes of breathable air. As the emergency seals, Jon discovers his father has collapsed, his leg broken and head bruised, while his mother’s sobs fill the cramped cabin.
With the ship drifting toward a distant colony, Jon—only sixteen—must take the helm despite having never piloted a vessel before. His older brother Jak steps in, calmly setting the father's injury and offering terse instructions, while their mother clings to hope that they can reach a medical outpost before it’s too late. The family’s desperate scramble turns the quiet journey into a test of courage, quick thinking, and the bonds that hold them together.
