Description

When Rose arrives in New York after a long Pullman ride, she reunites with her friend Sylvia and the rest of the Nowadays Club, a tight‑knit circle of bright, adventurous women. Their chatter about tea, travel, and a secret plan sets the tone for a light‑hearted yet daring escapade. Already they are swapping telegrams and dreaming of a weekend in the Adirondacks, where a deserted bungalow on Saranac Lake promises both relaxation and a hint of intrigue.

The girls trade city polish for rugged scenery, paddling canoes and exploring hidden trails while a missing emerald and a mysterious note pull them deeper into the woods. Along the way they encounter a mischievous Spaniard, a startled loon, and the occasional peril of an overboard mishap. Their camaraderie and quick wits turn each obstacle into a lively puzzle, inviting listeners to follow the clues before night falls on the lonely lake.
