Fresh from college with honors, John Redmond II feels the pull of the untamed West more than the clamor of the city. He envisions himself as an engineer‑explorer, digging for the riches hidden beneath rugged mountains. The sudden, brutal news of his uncle’s murder by the notorious Nightriders in Kentucky shatters those plans and ignites a fierce desire for justice.
Swearing vengeance, John abandons his academic future and adopts the name “Jack Wade” as he drives a wagon train into the frontier. He purchases a battered cabin, repairs it with his own hands, and begins to carve out a modest farm while keeping a watchful eye on the surrounding community. Amid fresh sunsets and the rhythm of a lone horse, he transforms from a soft‑skinned scholar into a hardened, determined frontiersman, ready to confront the enemies who shattered his family.
