Description

A determined young architect named Westray is dispatched to the crumbling Cullerne Minster, a historic church whose towering vaults and aging roof hide secrets older than the town itself. Under the skeptical eye of the formidable Sir George Farquhar, he must juggle the fragile stonework, an underfunded budget, and a cantankerous parish priest while keeping an ever‑watchful eye on the looming tower that threatens to collapse.

Beyond the stone walls, the story paints a vivid picture of Cullerne’s shifting landscape—once a bustling seaport now reduced to marshy flats, its lifeline now a newly‑built railway line that threads through the countryside. As Westray arrives by train, rain-soaked and modestly dressed, he begins to sense how the town’s past and its modern ambitions are tangled together, setting the stage for a delicate balancing act between preservation and progress.
