Description

In a crumbling Warwickshire manor, the last of the Trevlyn line, Richard, wrestles with an ancient family prophecy that promises ruin unless a hidden truth is uncovered. His young wife, Alice, balances affection for her husband with a growing unease as the faded verses speak of an heir, a curse, and dust that must be sifted. Their conversation drifts from romantic nostalgia to the shadow of past violence that still haunts the house. When a mysterious card arrives, Richard vanishes to the library, leaving Alice to sense something far more urgent than everyday worries.

Alone, Alice slips into a concealed closet and pries at a narrow door, hearing whispered voices that shatter her calm. The sudden, frantic reaction of the hidden occupants forces her to collapse in fear, hinting at a secret visitor and a locked object of unknown power. As the household murmurs about a black‑bearded stranger, the promise of the old rhyme looms, promising that the key she discovers may finally open the door to the family’s haunted legacy.
