Description

A seasoned lawyer finds his orderly life upended when a baffling murder case—known as the “Man in Lower Ten”—draws him into a tangled web of clues that point to three very different suspects. Reluctant yet compelled, he teams up with his equally eccentric partner McKnight, whose humor and laziness clash with the seriousness of the investigation. Their uneasy alliance leads them from the cramped Pullman car to the shadowy streets of Pittsburg, where every detail feels both too obvious and maddeningly obscure.

As the case unfolds, the narrator’s mundane routines—golf, bridge, and a quiet domestic life overseen by his formidable housekeeper—are forced aside. He must juggle forged notes, hidden documents, and a growing sense of danger that lurks just beyond his doorstep. The tension between his desire for normalcy and the relentless pull of the mystery sets the stage for a suspenseful, character‑driven first act that promises more twists ahead.
