Description

Gordon Merrick is a typical summer teenager, pedaling his bike down a quiet street when a sudden splash from a watering cart jolts him into action. A letter from an old friend sparks an idea: gather a group of boys and take on the rival team from the Point in a baseball showdown. The invitation becomes a catalyst for Gordon, who can’t resist the chance to rally his classmates and prove their mettle on the diamond.

He turns to his close friends—Lansing, Fudge Shaw, and the ever‑resourceful Dick, who navigates the world on crutches yet never misses a chance for a good game. Together they sketch out a lineup, picture a winning strategy, and feel the buzz of school spirit swelling around them. As the boys rehearse in fields and alleys, the promise of forming “the Lucky Seventh” ignites a blend of competition, humor, and the simple joy of teamwork that defines their early adventures.
