Bill and his wife Min run a bustling “spotel” on Io, a space‑age motel that caters to everything from cargo pilots to holiday travelers zipping between Earth, Mars and the Jovian moons. In a future where refuel prices and synthetic meals are part of everyday conversation, they compete fiercely with other orbital inns, constantly upgrading cabins with hot‑and‑cold water, TV and guaranteed Terran gravity. Their livelihood hinges on the lucrative contract with Minor Planets, a blue‑chip asteroid‑mining firm that relies on flawless robot pilots to ferry precious cargo.
When Min discovers a sleek, human‑like robotic leg tucked away in a locker, the couple’s routine is jolted into a mystery that threatens their hard‑won contract. As they piece together the missing parts of an elegant female mech—complete with a blue dress and mysterious serial numbers—they realize the servos from Minor Planets may be hiding something far more personal than a spare part. Amid the technical intrigue, Bill finds himself questioning what love really means when humanity, machines, and the empty void of space begin to intertwine.
