Description

Eight‑year‑old Jimmy lives in a tiny seaside school, his days filled with lessons, games, and the endless chatter of classmates who brag about families he barely remembers. Though his full name—James Orchardson Sinclair Wilmot—sounds grand, his own home is a patchwork of distant aunts, letters from a mother he has never met, and a father who vanished years ago. As the half‑term ends, he feels a knot of anxiety and curiosity about the world beyond the school walls.

When Miss Rosina, the substitute governess, learns that no one has yet confirmed his travel plans, she arranges for an uncle to meet Jimmy at Victoria Station, a promise that hangs on a missing letter. The prospect of a journey to London ignites both excitement and nervousness, as Jimmy wonders whether he will finally see the faces behind the photos and letters. With his backpack packed and questions swirling, he steps toward a day that could change the shape of his young life.
