Description

The story opens on a moonlit night along Venice’s glittering Grand Canal, where a young English apprentice named Francis has just arrived from London. He quickly discovers that the city’s dazzling festivals and secretive alleys conceal a world far different from the bustling streets of his home. Through vivid descriptions of masked revels, bustling markets, and the ever‑watchful eyes of the Council of Ten, the listener feels the tension between the city’s glitter and its hidden dangers.

When a whispered plot against the Republic surfaces, Francis is swept into a web of intrigue that drags him from opulent palaces to the rough decks of trading galleys. He finds himself chasing clues through narrow waterways, confronting ruthless pirates, and learning the hard‑won rules of Venetian loyalty. As the stakes rise, his courage and quick wit become vital to a cause that could decide the fate of the whole lagoon.
