In autumn 58 B.C., Meromic wakes to a bright coastal morning filled with ambition. Son of a powerful leader among the seafaring Veneti, he dreams of eloquent speeches, heroic deeds, and a future in which the Celtic cantons stand united and free. Beyond the misty shores, however, Rome is tightening its hold on Gaul, and Julius Caesar’s intervention has already begun to unsettle old loyalties.
