Description

The epic of Spain’s most beloved champion unfolds in a vivid blend of romance and battlefield valor. Drawing on centuries‑old ballads, the tale paints Rodrigo Díaz, the Cid, as a son who avenges his father, a lover who courts the daughter of a slain rival, and a steadfast vassal who dares to challenge a king’s judgment. His story is set against the turbulent frontier of medieval Castile, where Christian and Moorish worlds constantly collide.

In the opening act, the Cid’s first love blossoms amid festive gatherings, only to be tested by a sudden blow that threatens his honor. He rides out to confront the ruthless Count of Gormaz, proving his skill with sword and his devotion to his liege. Yet even as he wins battles, the Cid is torn between the demands of duty and the pull of his own heart, hinting at the complex choices that will shape his legend.
