Description

Ool has just survived the galaxy‑wide invasion, hailed as a hero for keeping the alien threat at bay with a prototype Gilkite ray. He looks forward to a long‑overdue honeymoon with Loris, a silver‑haired Venusian whose love has always seemed out of step with his warrior caste. The morning after they wed, Ool wakes to find her body cold and unalive, her skin turned to a chalky white, and a baffling two‑week gap in his memory. Panic and guilt swirl as he tries to piece together what happened during the missing days.

The Old Men’s Committee summons him for questioning, insisting that no one would be allowed to carry a weapon of mass destruction without proof of innocence. Scientists can’t explain the blank security screen that cut off his ship’s communications, and the mysterious inventor Gilk has vanished. As Ool faces a sterile interrogation, he must decide whether the truth lies in a hidden malfunction, a deliberate sabotage, or something far more personal. The story balances cold‑hard space politics with the desperate search for a lost love.
