Description

A young watch officer finds himself thrust into the quiet pre‑dawn bustle aboard a U.S. destroyer moored in a British port. When a secret order arrives, the crew slips the rope and slips into the dark Irish Sea, the rain masking their departure. The boy watches seasoned captains and lieutenants move with practiced precision, feeling the hum of engines and the weight of torpedoes being readied for the first real test of their mettle.

Soon the destroyer joins a tight formation of sister ships, hunting the hidden menace of German U‑boats that stalk the Atlantic lanes. As the crew spots a sleek silhouette beneath the waves, the tension rises and the boy must act quickly, learning the art of sonar, depth‑charge timing, and daring pursuit. The early clash offers a vivid glimpse of wartime naval life—camaraderie, danger, and the thrill of a young sailor confronting the unknown.
