Description

In the sweltering heat of the Niger delta, young engineer Charles Markley hauls a bulky radio set deep into the heart of the jungle. The riverboat Lagarto drifts beneath a moonlit canopy, its crew of weary Europeans trading jokes and pipe smoke while the surrounding villages watch the strange contraption with awe, mistaking its crackling voice for something divine.

Markley's arrival awakens both curiosity and fear among the locals. A bright‑eyed village girl, fascinated by the humming machine, begins to question the myths that surround it, while the engineer finds himself tangled in the perilous politics of trade, disease, and superstition. When a sudden, unexpected event puts Markley’s life in jeopardy, the encounter forces him—and the people around him—to reconsider what truly powers the world beyond the static.
