Under the searing Texas sun three weather‑worn hunters push forward across endless desert and low mountain ranges. Clad in leather coats, wide‑brimmed Panaman hats and armed with Remington rifles, they move as a tight unit – the seasoned veteran known as the Bear Slayer, his hawk‑eyed partner, and a younger fast‑footed relative. Their aim is to reach the mysterious Trelfon caves, but the landscape already whispers of restless Sioux war parties nearby.

At the edge of a dry riverbed they discover fresh tracks and a discarded moccasin, unmistakable signs of a Sioux encampment. The Bear Slayer’s sharp eyes read the clues, while the younger hunter’s nerves tighten, hinting at a confrontation that could test loyalty and skill.
