Description

A weather‑beaten warship sails into the tangled archipelago of the Philippines, its crew a rag‑tag collection of sailors, a Malay cutthroat, a Chinese cook with a shadowy past, and a handful of nervous youngsters who barely remember their own names. Through the eyes of the ship’s candid deckhand, listeners hear the banter, the uneasy camaraderie, and the uneasy sense that each port hides a new challenge. The narrative paints a vivid picture of life at sea—storm‑tossed decks, cramped quarters, and the ever‑present hum of distant gunfire.

As the vessel drifts from bustling Manila to remote, mist‑shrouded islands, the first act follows the crew’s uneasy attempts to navigate both foreign waters and the tangled loyalties of a colonial frontier. Their encounters with local rebels, mysterious shipwrecks, and the occasional burst of humor reveal a world where survival depends as much on wit as on weaponry. Listeners will be drawn into a gritty, human portrait of adventure, where every creak of the hull hints at stories yet to unfold.

About the author

KM

K. M. Eady

Best known for brisk, old-fashioned adventure stories for younger readers, this elusive writer set tales in schools, far-off islands, and other high-energy settings. Surviving records point to a small body of fiction published around the turn of the 20th century, but very little personal information seems to have been preserved.
