Description

In the summer of 1780 the Carolinas are a landscape of turmoil. British troops sweep through valleys and towns, leaving families to fend for themselves with scant supplies and constant danger. Two teenage hunters, Nathan and Evan, pause in the woods to discuss the recent defeats that have left the Patriot cause on the brink, their conversation a window into the desperation and stubborn hope of the frontier settlers.

Amid this bleak backdrop, Sarah Dillard emerges as a fierce and resourceful young woman. When a hostile Tory threatens her family’s homestead, she decides to ride through hostile territory, carrying crucial news that could rally the scattered militia. Her journey across rugged hills and behind enemy lines tests both her courage and the resolve of the people she hopes to aid, offering a vivid portrait of ordinary bravery in an extraordinary moment of the Revolutionary War.
