Description

Near the heart of Bohemia, in the summer of 1648, the modest village of Reinau awakens from years of war‑scarred silence. The fields are green again, the gardens flourishing, and Arnold Mayer—once a prosperous burgomaster, now a widower—tends his homestead with his bright‑eyed daughter Minnchen, who has sworn to stay by her father's side instead of pursuing marriage. A short distance away rises the once‑glorious castle Miltnitz, home to the young and restless Ernst Odowalsky, heir to a lineage famed for its fierce role in the religious wars.

When a messenger brings word that the Swedish field marshal Hans Kristoffer Königsmark is marching toward Prague, the fragile peace of Reinau shatters. Arnold feels the old dread of conflict returning, while Ernst, wrapped in lavish feasts and hunts, remains oblivious to the storm gathering beyond his walls. Minnchen’s quiet devotion and the looming threat of a new army set the stage for choices that will test loyalty, love, and survival in a world still bearing the scars of thirty turbulent years.
