A restless drifter named Bill Barlow wanders into the rugged New Mexico hills, chasing the rumble of an unfamiliar aircraft that has landed in a moonlit meadow. The sight of a green De Havilland, its machine gun glinting in the dusk, throws him into a world of covert operations, whispered Spanish commands, and a mysterious convoy of men who speak of money, bosses, and armored cars.
As darkness deepens, Bill navigates a precarious line between curiosity and danger, slipping past the strangers and returning home just before dawn. He finds his host, a sleepy banker, already worrying about a bullion shipment arriving from Trinidad. Their terse conversation hints at larger stakes—a secretive shipment, looming threats, and a promise of further intrigue that will draw Bill deeper into a race against time and unseen enemies.
