Description

A small girl with a keen, questioning gaze rides through fog‑shrouded London streets beside her father, a charismatic sea captain. Though only seven, Saara’s mind is already filled with vivid memories of Bombay’s heat, the grandeur of her family’s bungalow, and the promise of a mysterious “place” her father mentions—a future far beyond the carriage’s cramped seats. As she clings to his arm, she wonders what it means to be rich, to belong, and whether she will ever truly feel at home.

The story follows Saara’s tender adjustment to a new world, where servants call her “Miss Sahib” and the bustling streets of England feel both alien and inviting. Through encounters with other children, quiet moments with her father, and the allure of books he sends her, Saara discovers that adventure often begins with a single question, and that the journey to understanding herself may be as winding as the foggy lanes of the city she now calls home.
