Description

A lone wanderer, bruised by countless trials, arrives at the shining palace of Alcinous on the distant island of the Phaeacians. The king greets him with warm hospitality, offering a banquet of fragrant wine, richly embroidered gifts, and the comfort of a welcoming hearth. In the glow of the feast, the stranger recounts his arduous journey, while the Phaeacians listen with reverent curiosity.

Moved by his tale, Alcinous and his court promise safe passage home, loading the hero’s own ship with fresh provisions and sturdy supplies. As the night deepens, the crew prepares the vessel for the fateful departure, the sea’s restless whisper hinting at the trials still ahead. The atmosphere balances hopeful anticipation with the lingering weight of a long‑ago homeland that still calls to him.
