Description

A modest countryside guesthouse in Hämeenlinna becomes the backdrop for a lively family drama. The Karisto household—father, mother, their spirited daughter Lissu, a brother‑in‑law, and a handful of village helpers—gathers around a well‑worn rocking chair while the matriarch knits and the patriarch paces, full of grand ideas. He boasts of a fresh investment that could turn their little farm into a thriving mill, promising wealth, status, and an elevated place for the family in the community.

Yet beneath the hopeful chatter, whispers of scandal begin to stir. The wife questions the rumors surrounding a local suitor, Venni, and the legitimacy of the supposed fortune, while the husband dismisses the gossip as jealousy. As the talkoot dance is set to begin, the couple’s clash over Lissu’s future marriage and the looming threat of a scandal threaten to unravel the fragile optimism that has sustained the household.
