Description

Catherine arrives in London from the Australian bush with a bright laugh and a head full of untamed habits. Taken into the household of the genteel Mrs. Arderne, she quickly finds herself juggling infant twins, delicate flower‑arranging, and the bewildering customs of a world far removed from the open outback. Her earnest attempts to become a proper companion are peppered with candid remarks and a fierce desire to prove herself useful, making her both endearing and a little out of step with the polished expectations around her.

Yet beneath the bustling nursery and the polite chatter, Catherine’s heart is already tugged in two directions. An engagement to the respectable Brian North clashes with the lingering affection she feels for a life back home, while letters to her estranged uncles hint at deeper family entanglements. As she strives to balance duty, love, and her own spirited independence, the story follows her delicate dance between the rigid world of Victorian society and the wild, unapologetic spirit she carries within.
