Description

Nick Carter is called in when Prince Marcos, ruler of the Caribbean nation of Joyalita, is shot and left gravely ill. The prince insists on boarding a fast train to return home within five days, fearing that his absence could topple his government. With a surgeon refusing to clear him for travel, Carter must argue medicine against politics, using his own knowledge of surgery and his relentless determination.

Carter assembles a small team—a loyal valet, a clever nurse, and a high‑powered motor car—to escort the ailing monarch across the United States and into Central America. As they race against a ticking clock, shadowy rivals in the prince’s own family and his prime minister plot to keep him sidelined. The detective’s blend of intuition, daring, and careful planning sets the stage for a pulse‑pounding chase through tropical intrigue.

Best known as the shared pen name behind the classic Nick Carter detective adventures, this byline helped shape one of the most popular dime-novel sleuths in American popular fiction. Rather than belonging to one writer, it stood for a long-running storytelling tradition built by multiple hands.
