Nell and Her Grandfather, Told from Charles Dickens's "The Old Curiosity Shop"

A weary traveler strolling through London’s winding streets encounters a fragile thirteen‑year‑old girl who has wandered far from home. She asks him for directions, yet admits she cannot reveal why she’s traveling alone, the mystery of her purpose hinted at in the tremor of her voice. Compelled by kindness, the gentleman offers his arm, and together they make their way to a narrow doorway that opens onto a cluttered curiosity shop filled with strange ornaments, rusted weapons and odd trinkets.
