Description

In the waning light of an 1788 Kentucky forest, two boys—Ned, a keen-eyed pioneer, and his close friend Wildblossom, a quick‑witted youngster of African descent—track a magnificent buck that promises their first real meal. Their journey is as much about survival as it is about the bond forged between them in a world still raw and untamed, with the distant block‑house of Fort Bridgman looming like a promise of safety.

When the deer suddenly collapses despite the silence of Ned’s rifle, the boys are thrust into a puzzling mystery that tests Ned’s curiosity and Wildblossom’s practicality. Their differing reactions—one eager to solve the strange occurrence, the other focused on salvaging supper—set the stage for a tale of early frontier life, friendship, and the unexpected challenges that greet those who venture into America’s wild frontiers.
