Description

A quirky, seafaring tale opens on the windswept islands of St. Mary’s, where the diminutive taxidermist M. Claude Fournier arrives in an oversized oilskin coat, his nervous eyes scanning the fog‑laden harbor. He becomes an unlikely witness to a strange discovery that stirs gossip among the locals, linking a vanished artillery captain to a mysterious cargo and a series of whispered rumors that ripple through the island community.

At the same time, the story introduces the aloof gentleman Charneck and the enigmatic Miranda, whose chance encounter on a balcony sets the stage for a delicate courtship edged with intrigue. Their conversations drift between the mundane and the mysterious, as Charneck builds fantasies of distant castles while Miranda navigates the tensions of a new, uncertain line of conduct. The narrative balances humor and suspense, inviting listeners to follow a cast of eccentric characters as they wade through fog, secrets, and the delicate dance of first impressions.
